I came here bc I was in the mood for some soup.
The reviews were really great and once I saw a photo of the menudo I was on my way.
You seat yourself and are promptly greeted by your server. I asked her about the soups and she immediately recommended the menudo. I was sold. Within a few minutes she brought me the large bowl, which is really like 3 servings, with a saucer or finely chopped onions, cilantro, and jalapeños.
I had my first sip sans toppings so I could get a good taste of it by itself and I was highly impressed.
Rarely do I bother ordering menudo anywhere bc once you have your family make it, not much else compares. Borrego de Oro however, makes menudo that makes you smile. Simply perfect.
The chips are light and crispy, not greasy or too salty. And the salsa is great.
I was so excited about their menudo I sent a picture to my aficionado dad. Come and bring your family! -

Very low-key, down to earth, authentic tex-mex joint. No frills. Just simple good food. Bottomless salsa and chips are great. Their portions are very large and just about everything comes with tortillas, rice, beans, guac, etc
Their mole is superb. If you want something unique and gamey, try their special Birria Plate; super lamb-y. -

Very solid authentic Mexican food for a great price!
Between two of us, we ordered the ceviche tostada, queso flameado, and birria plate.
I would pass on the ceviche next time - was dry and felt like mushed cooked fish instead of chunks like most other ceviche ive had.
But the other two were really tasty. Impressed with the large mushroom-iness of the queso flameado and the birria was very flavorful.
Homemade tortillas a plus.
Oh and the pineapple agua fresca was delicious and only $2.75 for a giant cup. -

Highly recommend the queso flameado. Fajita taco was okay. Beans and rice okay. Pretty basic.
Definitely steer clear of the margaritas. Not good--think a tiny bit of tequila watered down with some dish water. I asked for extra lime and after squeezing about 4 in there along with some of my husband's lime soda, it was slightly more tolerable.
Husband liked the barbacoa. The al-pastor was weird. Tasted like carnitas that they put some sort of red sauce on.
When we went there there were only two waiters working the whole restaurant, so service was reaaaaaally slow and we were never brought the check. Helped ourself to a to-go box. Then After waiting a while more we decided to go up and stand by the cash register in the hopes that someone would come over and take our money so we could go. There was another patron waiting as well and eventually after waiting a bit longer we were able to tell the cashier what we'd ordered and skedaddled.
I would put 2 stars but because my husband liked his tacos I went with 3.
